  1. NEWS! - Scenery Released : KCAK - Akron-Canton, Ohio by Tearware Designs Akron is a city in Summit County, Ohio, United States, and its county seat. At the 2020 census, the city proper had a total population of 190,469, making it the fifth-most populous city in Ohio and 136th-most populous city in the U.S. The Akron metropolitan area, covering Summit and Portage counties, had a population of 702,219. It is located on the western edge of the Glaciated Allegheny Plateau in Northeast Ohio about 40 miles (64 km) south of downtown Cleveland. Akron is famous for it's long history of rubber and tire manufacturing, carried on today by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, that gave Akron the nickname "Rubber Capital of the World". It was also once known as a center of airship development. Today, its economy includes manufacturing, education, healthcare, and biomedical research. This Akron Airport is another scenery by Tearware Designs, the last was Northwest Arkansas National Airport, which was an excellent scenery, and Cleveland Hopkins Airport KCLE in 2023, so Akron is a great companion scenery to Cleveland. Akron–Canton Airport is a commercial airport in the city of Green, in southern Summit County, Ohio (a small piece of each runway is in Stark County). The airport is located about 14 miles (23 km) southeast of Akron and 10 miles (16 km) northwest of Canton. It is jointly operated by Summit County and Stark County. The airport is a "reliever" airport for Northeast Ohio and markets itself as "A better way to go", emphasizing the ease of travel in comparison to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Just under 90% of its traffic is general aviation.
