News! - New Default aircraft : F14 joins the stable from Laminar Research

In the release notes for the coming soon now X-Plane 11.30 beta (Known internally here as X-Plane11 2.0) there are a few significant references to "F14" which means the Grumman F-14 Tomcat swing-wing fighter. Originally there was a few nice fighters provided with X-Plane, but currently only the F4 Phantom is carrying the flame, and that is quite or very old as well.

There is a F-14F Tomcat by Colimata, but that is early X-Plane10 (2012), and much has been updated since, and it is now not available in X-Plane11.

The release notes focus on the F14's ability for carrier born operations, in the swing-wing flaps and the "3-dimensional specification" tail-hook position for more accurate carrier landings...  interesting.

No doubt a more viable fighter in X-Plane11 for sales and promotion aspects are the goal for Laminar Research, and we will get to benefit also from the F-14's availability...  coming soon to your local favorite simulator!

Those are great news! Love the F-14 for it's size and good looks. Really can't wait to fly it. I just hope LM fixes the aircraft carriers as well. Right now they behave more like a dinghy than a floating airport with a displacement greater than 100k tons when confronted with moderate waves.

Oh, and Colimata developed a F-18F "Super Hornet", not a F-14F. There never was a F-14F, only D. Also Colimata's F-18F is a native XP11 jet and not compatible with XP10, afaik never has been.
