Stephen
NEWS! - Scenery Upgraded : PAEN - Kenai Municipal Airport, Alaska XP12 by NorthernSkyStudios Upgrade releases to X-Plane 12 are coming thick and fast from NorthernSkyStudios, only last week it was both PATK - Talkeetna and PAWD - Seward Airport, here now is the upgrade for the excellent PAEN - Kenai Municipal Airport, and all in Alaska. Kenai Municipal Airport is a city-owned, public-use airport located in Kenai, a city in the Kenai Peninsula Borough of the U.S. state of Alaska. X-PlaneReviews full coverage of the NorthernSky X-Plane 11 scenery is here; Impression Review : PAEN - Kenai Municipal Airport, Alaska by NorthernSkyStudio. Kenai Municipal Airport covers an area of 1,200 acres at an elevation of 99 feet (30 m) above mean sea level. It has two runways: 2L/20R with a 7,855 by 150 feet (2,394 x 46 m) asphalt pavement and 2R/20L with a 1980 by 75 feet (604 x 23 m) gravel surface. It also has a seaplane landing area designated 2W/20W which measures 4,600 by 252 feet (1,402 x 77 m). In addition, the airport has two asphalt helipads that are 100 by 100 feet (30 x 30 m). Notable is for to upgrade to the X-Plane 12 version, in that previous purchasers of PAEN XP11 can get this new XP12 version for 50% off, the already low sub-US$15 price. Features: Includes both X-Plane 12 and X-Plane 11 versions The most detailed replica of airport buildings and vehicles High resolution ground textures / Custom runway textures High resolution building textures Compatible with all X-Plane 11 and 12 features Custom surroundings All materials created for full PBR Shading and occlusion (texture baking) effects on all airport buildings Custom orthophoto for the airport and surrounding areas Excellent performance Realistic glass reflections World Traffic compatible Custom mesh for the airport area (Ortho4XP) Compatible with a default mesh There has been a lot of changes to the PAEN scenery since the above review in 2020. A full interior (v1.1) has been added to the terminal (NorthernSky always does great detailed interiors). And the new Kenai here is simply excellent... Interesting is now from the front of the Kenai terminal you can see the detailed interior... sadly the option to convert to the older version (2020) with the rooftop observation deck has been removed, to accommodate the new interior detail... but brilliant internally it all is! Also fixed (in X-Plane 12) is the 2W/20W Runway (Water) channel, which was a greened in area in the original X-Plane 11 release version, the new X-Plane 12 water fixes the issue. Now you have the most perfect water takeoff/landing channel for your floatplane. Water is far better on the coastline as well, and the iconic Holy Assumption Orthodox Church has also been added. X-Plane 12 also brings seasonal effects (Snow-Ice) to Kenai as well... again an excellent feature up here on the 57th parallel north. All this and more for 15 Bucks!.... that is crazy, insane.
